Tidbits

  • Thank goodness for friends who call up just to say hi and you end up spending hours talking, shopping and eating lunch together. Thanks so much Melissa! How else could I have gotten out of cleaning my house today? What would I do without you?

  • What an awesome weekend we had with my family this weekend. We were all together for the first time in three years. With the river, games and more food than we knew what to do with, it was so much fun. Thanks mom and dad for a great weekend.

  • Brayden learned a great life lesson this weekend. My brothers and dad taught him how to pee outside, which according to them is a critical skill. Even more important, he learned not to look down when you do it unless you want to get shot in the face. (yes, he learned the hard way)

  • Tawny is crawling! She's not fast and her form isn't perfect but she's definitely getting around. If I turn my back for too long she'll get away for me. Looks like I'll be spending the rest of today baby-proofing the house.

  • Tawny also "ate" her first rib this past weekend. She was teething and wanted something to chew on, so of course her papa gave her a rib. It was just a bone with no meat, but she loved it.

And here's picture proof of our fun week:

Good Morning

Today is just one of those good days. The kids were playing outside and were so cute that I took a few candids. I also thought that some of the family hsan't seen Tawny in a while so I took a few video clips. She's not really doing anything particular, but she's cute all the same.

Pics...

Just a bunch of random pictures...

Just so cute
Elaine, I thought you might particularly like the last picture. The shirt and shorts are Greg's from when he was little. It seems like Greg is wearing that shirt in quite a few of his pictures when he was that age. He says he remembers it was one of his favorites.

Please Don't Think I'm Bragging

I'm really not. I'm just so excited that I feel the need to share the news with everyone. If I could, I think I would hire an airplane to write it in the sky. Here goes my great news...

Not only has Brayden potty trained himself during the daytime, but he's gone over a week with no accidents during his nap or nighttime! I wish I knew what triggered it all so I could use it with future potty training endeavors. He just did it. I hadn't even thought about getting him out of diapers while he sleeps. I figured that would be so much further down the road. Needless to say, I am just so excited. Even with him not feeling well, it hasn't been an issue. In fact, I tried to put a diaper on him for bedtime yesterday and we had an all-out revolt. He won. I just hope he keeps it up!

Quite a Scare

Brayden had his first asthma attack on Tuesday. It made me grateful that my brothers and I had asthma growing up because I was able to catch it pretty early. We spent hours and hours in urgent care. His oxygen level was pretty low when we first got there. He did three rounds of breathing treatments on the nebulizer and they also gave him some other medication to break up the congestion. He doing better but not well.

He had to get a nebulizer for out home, and two different medications to go along with it, xopenex and pulmicort. One opens up the airway and the other helps prevent future asthma attacks. So much fun! For anyone that has a two year old, imagine making them sit still for 5 fifteen minute intervals every day and breath deeply out of a plastic tube. He does pretty well, but it's hard for him to sit still that long. Especially since the medicine really winds him up. For the last two days he has done nothing but talk. There is a constant stream of words coming out of his mounth. Sometimes they don't even make sense, he's just making noise. But the medicine makes him really antsy and I can't let him run around, so I guess all that extra energy is coming out as words. But I figure all the talking is a good sign, because you can talk then you can breathe. Like I said, he's getting better, but he still has a way to go before we can take him off the nebulizer.

Other than that, life is pretty uneventful. Tawny has a cold, but is fine. And she is almost crawling. So close. Which means I need to go baby proof the house. But I don't mind. On one hand, I love watching her grow up and develop a personality. Or the other hand, where did my little baby go?

Fair Time

We took Brayden to the fair last weekend and he had so much fun. The loved the lights and the pirate theme they had. He wasn't very adventurous with the rides though, as you can tell by the pics. He loved the carousel about four or five times. He went on a car ride once and then declared it "scary and dangerous". Such a little dare devil!

Success!

As many of you know, potty training Brayden has been and on and off thing. But we had a breakthrough on monday!! It started like any other day. I got him dressed(with a diaper and everything) and was in my room working when I heard a bunch of noise coming from the bathroom. Brayden had found the stool, dragged it into the bathroom, taken off his diaper and was using the toilet on of his own accord. It might have possibly been the happiest moment of my life. He told me,"Mommy, I'm big and can do it all by myself. I don't need any help. It's no big deal". I'm so glad he came to that conclusion. He's had no accidents since and needed no prompting or reminding. He acts like he's been potty trained for months. Like he said, he doesn't need any help. So AWESOME.

It's way too premature to say he's potty trained or anything, but I'll take what I can get.
